Finally - There is a Downtown Orlando Movie Theater
Its official The Plaza in Downtown Orlando is getting a Movie Theater.
Last week, The Orlando City Commissioners voted unanimously on a plan to give out millions in incentives to make a downtown movie theater a reality.
The deal calls for the theater to open in The Plaza building on Orange Avenue by July 2009,
From what I understand … the fine print:
There will be $6 million in incentives back to the developer.
Work is going to be started very soon…
There are talks that the new theater will inevitably be the venue for the Orlando Film Festival.
I lived in The Solaire at the Plaza for 18 months, and I must say this Theater is going to help the values throughout downtown.
However the Plaza parking garage is going to get interesting, with the Solaire Residents (300+) and several Movies ending at about the same time …
With the recent bleak news in regard to the Performing Arts Center … this is a beacon of hope for Downtown Orlando.
