Downtown Orlando Development Board Meeting Notes
On March 5th I attended the Downtown Development Board Meeting.
Here are a few notes I jotted down via Evernote on my iPhone.
Join Mayor Dyer on Saturday, March 21st from 730am-2pm, at the DoubleTree Hotel (universal) for the 4th Annual Mayor's Neighborhood & Community Summit - Partnering to Strengthen Orlando. This year - the focus is on creating partnerships that will support Orlando residents and Strengthen Orlando during this economic downturn. You'll be able to experience workshops that will offer practical tools for helping our community during tough economic times.
The city's individual committees have powerful initiatives in motion.
Downtown Development Board has Downtown guides, showing restaurants, parking garages, 3rd Thursday Information along with other downtown information - updated every 2 months.
Have you noticed the artistic guitars randomly placed around Metro-Orlando? This is the GuitarTown project - well it ends in April - All 36 Large and 32 Small guitars will be present at the last Farmers Market in April.
Downtown Orlando is unveiling a website very soon!
Glimpse Gallery - will be an art display exclusively @ The Downtown Information Center.
3rd Thursday in the Arts District will thrive off the cities ENERGY and VIBE, art will rotate from different locations.
Rumor has it: March is the grand opening for The Plaza's Movie Theatre ... and there will be Free popcorn in popcorn buckets that are custom painted!

The best news I heard was the focus on Future Downtown Economic Development where -
Retail is major component
Actively cultivating Downtown Orlando Restaurants
There is also a Study that will conclude in April-
The result initially will give Orlando a face and a vision for future business target market profile.
Consumer profiles will be created
The Goal:
Create business climate
Create foot traffic
